Piccy Products Ltd – promoting healthy eating through innovative children's tableware
Entrepreneurs Sue Amphlett and Vonny Shelley are realising an exciting business idea with the help of innovation support they won during a knock-out pitching competition during the 2009 iFestival.
Schoolteachers, mothers and friends Sue and Vonny were deemed by judges to have the original business idea with most potential of around 100 contenders in the Last Business Standing competition at the iEXPO on 10th March.
Innovation support from emda and other public and private sector services, together with the determination of the business women, means their new company Piccy Products Ltd is preparing to launch a range of innovative tableware to encourage children to eat healthy foods
Business Link, emda’s Food and Drink iNet, the Manufacturing Advisory Service, Nottingham Trent University and PERA are amongst the organisations and services that have contributed to the start-up’s progress.
Vonny says of their journey so far:
“The support we’ve had has given us the knowledge, contacts and confidence to get our tableware idea towards shop shelves. We know there’s a lot of work ahead but we’re excited about marketing and selling the products”.
